St. Louis, Missouri (February 11, 2025) – Larson Engineering, Inc. has completed its acquisition of Fagen Engineering, LLC, the engineering arm of construction company Fagen, Inc., marking a significant milestone in its strategic growth initiative.
The acquisition strengthens Larson's position in industrial engineering, specifically in the growing ethanol and biofuel sector, and represents a key component of the company's ambitious ten-year strategic plan aimed at achieving 25 percent revenue growth.
Larson Engineering, which is 100 percent employee-owned, is retaining all of Fagen Engineering’s employees and maintaining existing office leases in Granite Falls, Minn., within the Fagen, Inc. headquarters, and Greenville, S.C., ensuring continuity for current clients while expanding its national presence.
The acquisition stemmed from Larson’s more than 20-year working relationship with Fagen Engineering and Fagen, Inc., as well as interest in the team’s specialized ethanol and biofuel plant and carbon capture expertise.
As the ethanol industry leading design builder, Fagen, Inc. and Fagen Engineering have been involved in the development or installation of more than 90 facilities for original build, expansion or enhancement projects.
"Our goal at Larson is to be a forward-thinking leader in the industrial engineering space, so the acquisition of Fagen Engineering is a critical step in our overall growth plans,” said Cindy Ebert, President and CEO of Larson Engineering. “We see great potential in the bioenergy and industrial engineering sectors. With the addition of Fagen Engineering, we can seize the opportunities presented by this growing market demand and better help our clients work toward a more sustainable future.”
The acquisition of Fagen Engineering also enables Larson to take on larger, more complex industrial projects across multiple sectors, including pulp and paper, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
“Through our 20-plus year relationship with Larson Engineering, we have seen the passion and teamwork they bring to projects,” Terrin Torvik, CEO of Fagen Engineering said. “We are excited to join this 100-percent employee-owned company and we look forward to being a part of Larson’s innovative team in this next chapter.”
“We are excited about this opportunity for our companies to continue working together on projects and keeping the continuity on our various industrial and renewable fuels projects,” Chris Howard, President and CEO of Fagen, Inc. said.
As Larson enters 2025, the company has made additional investments to support its growth, including increased business development resources and a new website that will launch in the spring.
